Albert Morrison Jr., 49, of Hickory, was sentenced to serve six to eight years in prison following his conviction for multiple criminal offenses and admitting his status as a habitual felon during Catawba County Superior Court on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The defendant entered the guilty plea to breaking/entering, larceny after breaking/entering, felony larceny, larceny by emergency door and felony possession of methamphetamine.
The Honorable Sherri W. Elliott, Superior Court Judge from Catawba County, imposed terms of the active sentence for Morrison.
Morrison’s sentence length was enhanced by habitual felon status that included convictions for possession of cocaine (June 2018), possession of Schedule II controlled substance (October 2005) and sale and delivery (October 2002), all in Catawba County.
The defendant will serve his period of incarceration in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.
On October 6, 2024, the defendant entered a residence through a rear window and began gathering items. While he was in the home, officers from Hickory Police Department caught him trying to take the items.
On November 5, 2024, Morrison put on clothing at a local business and went through the security doors only to be apprehended by an HPD officer who found other items he had taken from the establishment.
Morrison was seen exiting another business by an HPD officer on March 5, 2025. He had outstanding warrants against him. When he was taken into custody, methamphetamine was found on his person.
