Andrew Lindon Paul Mungro, 36, of Lincolnton, was given an active prison sentence of nine to 12 years after he pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
The Honorable Gregory R. Hayes, Superior Court from Catawba County, imposed the prison term for Mungro following his plea during Tuesday’s session of Catawba County Superior Court.
The defendant will be sent to the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections to serve his prison sentence.
Officers from Hickory Police Department responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on October 22, 2020. They found a female victim lying on the floor of an apartment with a single gunshot wound to the stomach. She told officers that Mungro shot her.
She was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center before being flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of her injuries.
According to a juvenile witness who was in the apartment, the defendant and victim were arguing before he went upstairs and returned with a handgun. The witness said Mungro shot the victim and then pushed him across the room and pointed the gun at him before leaving.
Mungro was located later that day in Lincoln County and arrested.
