Caldwell Man Sentenced for Trafficking Methamphetamine

A Caldwell County man will serve 11 to 15 years in prison following his conviction for trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transportation during Caldwell County Superior Court recently.

Keenan Ryan Michaux, 35, was given the active sentence by the Honorable Tommy Davis, Superior Court Judge from Rutherford County, after entering the guilty plea.

 In addition to the prison sentence, Michaux also will have to pay a mandatory fine of $100,000.

The defendant will serve his period of incarceration in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.

Michaux was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding by a Caldwell County deputy on November 24, 2024. A K-9 unit alerted to the presence of narcotics, and deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and its occupants.

The defendant was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, confirmed by the North Carolina State Crime Lab.

The case was investigated by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Lenoir Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Chief Assistant District Attorney Mitch Walker prosecuted the matter for the State.
