Sarah Marie Worth, 33, of Connelly Springs, received an active prison term of five to seven years during Catawba County Superior Court on Thursday, April 3, 2025, following guilty pleas to numerous felony charges and admission of habitual felon status.
The Honorable Karen Eady-Williams, Superior Court Judge from Mecklenburg County, imposed terms of the active sentence after Worth entered a guilty plea.
The defendant will serve her period of incarceration in custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.
Worth entered guilty pleas to two counts of possession of firearm by a felon, attempted obtaining property by false pretense and uttering forged instrument, altering a (vehicle) title, possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor larceny.
For the purpose of becoming a felon for the possession of firearm charge, Worth was convicted of larceny after breaking/entering in December 2020 in Burke County.
The sentence length for Worth was enhanced by her habitual status stemming from prior felony convictions for obtaining property by false pretense (February 2023), felony larceny after breaking/entering (December 2020) and felony larceny after breaking/entering (October 2018), all in Burke County.
The cases were investigated by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department and the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau. Assistant District Attorney Howard Wellons prosecuted the matter for the State with aid from Legal Assistant Meredith Scott.
