Hickory Man Convicted For Sexual Offenses With Minor

A Hickory man will serve at least 12 years in prison following his conviction for sexual offenses on Monday, April 11, 2022, during Catawba County Superior Court.

Andrew John Kenneth Patrick, 45, was given the active prison term of 12 to 15 years after he pleaded guilty as charged to first-degree statutory sex offense that occurred with a minor child between December 1-31, 1996.

The Honorable Nathaniel J. Poovey, Superior Court Judge from Catawba County, imposed the sentence for Patrick, who will serve his period of incarceration in the custody of the North Carolina Division of Adult Corrections.

The defendant also will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

The male victim, now 31 years old, came forward and reported in October 2019 to investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office that he had been sexually molested by the defendant at various locations around Catawba County when he was a minor.

The case was investigated by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit. Assistant District Attorney Jessica Phillips handled prosecution for the State.
