Hickory Man Sentenced for Habitual DWI

Henry Pham, 34, of Hickory, was sentenced to an active prison term of five to seven years following his conviction for habitual driving while impaired (DWI) and admission of his status as a habitual felon during Catawba County Superior Court on Wednesday, February 20, 2019.

The Honorable Daniel A. Kuehnert, Superior Court Judge from Burke County, imposed the prison sentence after Pham pleaded guilty to the offenses.

The defendant had two prior DWI convictions in January 2011 and another in June 2012 to account for habitual impaired driving.

Pham’s prison sentence was enhanced by his habitual felon status stemming from prior convictions for larceny of a motor vehicle (August 2002), felony hit/run (May 2009) and habitual impaired driving (May 2015), all in Catawba County.

The DWI offenses were investigated by troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Assistant District Attorney Melanie Earles prosecuted the cases for the State.
